Got some family shit going on that I'm not ready to post about so instead there's this...
I wear glasses now.
I first got my eyes tested when I was at uni. Used to sit in the very back row of the lecture theatre, so I could skip out early before the lecture was over to catch my bus :) And it got to the point where I couldn't actually read the board at the front of the lecture theatre. My thought? Score I just won't go to lectures! Mum's thought? You really need to get your eyes tested.
So that did happen but that was several years ago now. I know that my eyes have gotten worse over the years but haven't bothered to do anything about it, esp cause I was overseas. It was just one of those things that I was going to put off til "when I got back". Well now I'm just 2 short weeks away from leaving Australia again. (That's something freaking me out right now but a whole other story).
So I finally got my eyes tested again and yes they've gotten alot worse. I was aware of that... and the fact I couldn't actually see! Got my new glasses yesterday lunch and I've been wearing them since. I originally thought it would only be for distance, but the difference is so great that I'm just going to wear them all the time now. I'm getting used to them.
It was quite funny at work when I just started wearing them after lunch. People were giving me weird looks and were like since when do you wear glasses?? The old dude Laurie called me foureyes today. he's like 65 and wears glasses himself so I said takes one to know one. He was like gee that's original... so I said well so is foureyes!! Shane, who I've been getting on well with lately and who also wear glasses said Who's the nerd in the glasses?? I'm like it's you shane! lol Jasmyn said it was more like who's the sexy beast in glasses?? She did come over and tell me that she really liked them and thought they really suited me. That was nice to hear and a relief too!
But all in all I think they're okay. I'm really liking them and the difference they make it just too great to ignore. I can actually see! I've travelled the same bus route home from the city thousands of times but yesterday it was like I was seeing everything for the first time!
The guy that sold me the glasses was hilarious. I went in and was like look I have no idea what I'm doing, don't know what shape, colour, style etc to choose. So he was really good and helped me for ages. Then showed me this pair that are like metallic blue and then light green on the inside (nowhere near as hideous as that sounds!). He was like I love these glasses and show them to everyone. They are the ones I ended up buying, for which he was super excited. You're the first person that's ever liked them! Okay so either I'm really gullible and he just wants to make a sale or I'm a trendsetter? :)
That's my story, I'm going to bed.
