Misc ramblings and news
First, plans for next year. I had planned to spend a week in Vegas with mum and then go down the next month for my cousin's wedding. After seeing what's been going on with the TSA and airport screenings, I'm thinking of canceling. I don't know about you, but I would rather just not fly at all than either become a prostitute or a porn star just for the privilege of being packed in among perfect strangers like a sardine with a crying baby for four hours and no food or drink. Fuck that shit. I look upon the lawsuits being waged with great interest. I also hear rumblings from that great giant, the ACLU. Even Penn Jillette is making noises about a lawsuit after he was groped at an airport.
Next, The Walking Dead. Finally got around to watching the pilot, and like dumb-asses, we watched it at night. Ended up having to watch Tron after it to stave off the nightmares. Great production values, great acting. Interesting story line. I decided after the pilot that it was a bit too much horror for me, but I found myself wondering most of today how the hell Mr. Main Character was going to get his dumb-ass self out of the tank. I may just have to watch the second ep to find out.
Next, Tron. Like I said above, we finally saw Tron in preparation for the new movie coming out. OMG is that movie dated, but kinda fun. I kinda thought that Jeff Bridges at that age was almost interchangeable with Val Kilmer at that age. In any event, bad on the science, bad on the characterization, good on creativity. Just from looking at the trailers it looks like Legacy will have a much better plot. Even if it will still be bad on the science.
And speaking of science, I've been watching waaaay too much Mythbusters. I need a new TV show, one that has been on for years, one that I can marathon... I've stalled on NCIS because I've heard of the horribleness that is season 7. I've stalled on House and am really grateful for it (Huddy! It's just wrong!). Still can't make it through the crap that is Dexter 3rd season to get to the awesomeness that (I've heard) is the 4th season. Burnt out on the angst that is season 5 of Criminal Minds, not to mention the sexist purging that's going on over there in season 6. I'm desperate enough to get into one of the CSIs. Please, someone recommend me a good show. There has to be some out there that I've missed. Difficulty: No BSG or Stargate Universe.
And finally, I'm calling mum up on Saturday to get the whole story of what the hell is going on down in OK. As far as I know, everyone is still alive.
P.S.: Saw the Cowboys and Aliens trailer. Looks like it is going to be so bad it's fun. At the very least, we can oogle Daniel Craig being a bad ass. Also, I swear that he and Karl Urban are sharing hats... Speaking of oogling badasses: I totally dig Karl Urban in the Priest trailer. Rowr!
