I got a job!
When assistant-teacher-position-hunting turned out to be unsuccessful (public schools can't hire their own people, the city never got back to me, private schools don't want assistant teachers), I decided to look for au pair jobs. I wanted to live with a family anyway, for room and board in exchange for some childcare, so this basically just means a little more childcare and I get paid in addition to room and board.
I put myself on a few au pair websites and emailed a few families that sounded good and this morning I talked to one family on the phone and they said they'd love to have me!
I'll be right outside of Munich, in a family with a 3-year-old girl, Aurelia. She's in school until 3 every day which means I can give English lessons or maybe get a part-time job to make extra money. And the family sounded awesome!
I'm excited, I can't wait to be in Germany.
