I thought since good gardeners keep records of what they planted and when and what comes up, I might have a better idea of what I put down if I actually recorded it. So here is today's work.
Planted:
Radishes
Lettuce (Iceberg)
Salad Mix (Mild Mesclun mix)
Lettuce (Favorite blends)
Cilantro
Basil (genovese)
Green Beans
California Black eye Peas
Hyssop (Anise)
Also cut back some more grapevines as they seem to love this humid weather. Noticed the GrapeVine had slide off its pole (this is the previous owner's set up, I will have to do something better for when this vine gets weighed down with almost 100 pounds of grapes.) Grapes were lying in the ground so rescued from that moldy fate.
Turned the compost really good so all the fruit Mom put in from the overloaded Apricot tree is under drier dirt. Noticed lots of movement and buggies and stuff. Put some newspaper over the dirt so it would get plenty of head, have something dry in there and well make a lot more compost. I'm going to be needing it soon as I've only two bags of store bought dirt now.
Happy news! We have bees on the Cucumbers so we should be getting more fruit soon. I hope they noticed that there is more flowers on the way and the Pepper plant next to it which has only one pepper on it but plenty of flowers. I also hope they found the Tomatillo plant which has been putting out lots of flowers yet no pollinators have been near there. I am hoping that because the cilantro went to flower we will have some changes.
Watermelon is ca-put! Even the corn isn't coming up but I didn't plant it to use just to use up the seeds and give the birds something to eat. Sunflowers didn't get big but that is ok too-the birds are eager just the same. I will be bagging that biggest sunflower to save the seeds. No way I am giving that one up as it came up the fastest. Birds will be disappointed but I think if the corn makes it along with the other sunflowers, they will get over it. They have been doing pretty good at keeping bugs down usually after we water.
