Shoji Meguro

I know I've ranted about Persona 3 a lot, and this subject is tangentially related: Shoji Meguro. Probably my favorite video game composer at the moment, and it's not entirely because of the quality of his work (which, in my mind, rock). It's just his range is huge, going from hard rocking to kind of sweet/melancholy. For examples (these are all Youtube links that are actual links, since it's easier than embedding):

Two from Persona 4:

I'll Face Myself

I'll Face Myself (Another Version)

Two Three Four Five from Persona 3:

Aria of the Soul (Velvet Room music)

Persona 3 Reincarnation: Battle for Everyone's Soul

To be fair, the version of Battle for Everyone's Soul that I posted isn't actually from the game, it's a remix, this is the actual one, but I thought the other version was more similar to Aria of the Soul.

I should probably throw up something that isn't slow and isn't rock, so the other bit of versatility is that Shoji Meguro is surprisingly adept at jRap as well, which isn't great (but is catchy), but fits the mood of Persona 3 (what else are a bunch of high schoolers going to listen to?)

Deep Breath, mainly because it makes me laugh.

Crap, one more that's actually pretty decent: Burn My Dread -Last Battle-

One from Devil Summonr: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. the Soulless Army (which I still need to beat):

Intro song

Okay, okay, this was mainly an excuse to post more Persona 4 stuff (December 9th, w00t, already got it preordered) but I just find Meguro to be a rather underrated composer. When people talk about video game music you'll hear: Uematsu (Final Fantasy/Mistwalker stuff now), Mitsuda (Chrono *, Xenogears), Sakimoto (Final Fantasy Tactics, FF12, Vagrant Story) and probably Yamane (Castlevania), and they're all very good but I'd put Meguro up there too.

Anyway, I apologize, hopefully this will be my last Persona 3/4 post for a while. It's just that spifftacular a game.

So uh, I guess if you want, use the comments to talk about other video game composers? Or Persona? or telling me to shut up about Persona?
