Well, I feel really bad for the client, but 'while I was out' and unavailable to help Uber-Boss on a major case in which she is primary counsel, and I have been extremely active secondary counsel, she totally got snookered by opposing counsel in a written agreement. It's a minor agreement, thank god. Opposing counsel is generally and personally a worm but I have some respect for someone who carefully words an agreement to their advantage. That's the biz. It illustrates how useful I am. In a more petty context, it also will reduce the holier-lawyer-than-thou crap I hear from Uber-Boss every time I give her a draft on one of her cases to review and edit.
