Oh, the irony...

that on the same day I'm posting about personal sexual lack-o-function, I play in the background at work a movie called Strictly Sexual.  You do need to get over the opening image of sensitive, vulnerable Tara from Buffy:TVS failing to masturbate while tied up and watching a porn DVD stuck on fast-forward (or not get over it - your choice).  The movie is far from perfect, but it's really quite funny in parts, and overall charming.

Donna (Amber Benson, fka Tara) is a 20-something pot-smoking, angry, confused, and spoiled writer and sexual bottom living in LA.   Here's an early line from Donna: "Ok. You caught me. I mean, men are not the only ones who like to whack off like zoo monkeys. Why isn't it okay for girls to just like fucking? If you could have sex, once a week, no attachments, no expectations, just straight up fucking, would you?"  When she stubs out the cig, Tara is gone for the duration.

She's living with her uptight and desparately-trying-to relax-friend Christi Ann, a fashion designer.  They decide to go out to hire a couple of gigolos and mistakenly pick up a couple of construction workers from Queens; when they discover the error the next morning, they make a deal where the boys live in the cabana by the pool in return for sex-on-the-ladies-demand.

Reasonably dark (deeply shaded?) humor and romance ensues.  The extra charming part is the role reversal; the boys are being used and abused, and the girls are using and abusing.  No one can help falling in love (it is the convention in a romance) but it isn't always successful.  There's at least one moment in the movie when the guy is running penitently back through the sunset, hoping to be taken back by his lady-love.
