After greeting his mother and Deljah he was told his guest had went to the gardens. No one had to tell him where Lyssie had found herself. It had taken Lyssie quite a while of looking out onto the beautiful colors and then when Kailin came it seemed all the better. Kailin was the friend she had always longed for, but never got.The connection between the two was something that she wanted to last, not have it taken away by any means. However, it was inevitable that eventually they wouldn't see each other for a amount of time. It was his duty to his people and his family to carry on what he had

Kailin had spent this time thinking. Every time he got close to another woman he pulled back. Centauri weren't monogamous but he still felt like he was betraying his wife. No doubt that was due to his empathy. Still the attraction between himself and Lyssie wasn't something he could deny. There was no way to deny the fact he had returned to Earth on several occasions just to see her.

He still hadn't cleared his head when he heard her voice. Kailin glanced around and frowned before calling back to her.

She stepped in, closing the door after her and leaning against it. Something behind her felt safeas opposed to just standing there with nothing.

She tilted her head after a moment and started over towards him, kneeling in front of him with a frown on her face. "You're troubled." She sighed and ran one of her hands up and down his arm, a attempt to comfort him.

Kailin felt fearful when he saw her step into the room. She couldn't know what he was thinking and now he was glad she understood so little about his people. He let the silence go on as she came to rest in front of him. She was right. He was troubled over many things. Her touch caused a little shiver even through his jacket. He could fall for her so easily. He knew it. He knew it was the way of his people and so much more so for him.

It took him a few minutes before he nodded in answer to her comment.

I have much on my mind my dear.

She stopped the motions of her hands, simply letting them rest over his with a small frown playing across her features. If things were different, she could fall for him as well, but she couldn't allow that to happen.

"What's wrong?"

Kailin looked down at her and tried to smile but it didn't work. Slowly he sighed and touched her cheek with the other hand.

I'm an empath and a Centauri my dear. I believe your magic works too well on my kind. This time he did manage a small smile. Or perhaps it is the woman you are and nothing to do wtih what you are. I do not know.

She frowned and pulled back. "Oh..." She looked down and gave a small sigh. "I'm sorry Kailin"

Do not be my dear. Kailin smiled while looking down at her. You are a beautiful and charming woman and I am a romantic as many of my people are. There is no fault in feeling your presence as I do.

Kailin too sighed. Though I understand as things are I can not allow myself to that path and so I came here to be alone for a time.

"But what I am, it's influencing you." She wrinkled her nose a bit. She truly thought that was the only reason Jackson ever wanted to be near her too. It wasn't because she was her,it was because of that pull he felt to her every time she'd be singing under her breathe in the house. She was convinced of such a thing.

Who you are influences me far more than what you are. Kailin smiled and leaned toward her. I am an empath I can feel the difference between the two in others as well as myself.

She gave a small nod and a smile."It was nice, regardless of everything."

I agree my dear but it is a very dangerous thing for me with any woman. Kailin sighed sadly though it also seemed very exasperated.

"Why?" She blinked and looked at him, she didn't understand that one, but there were a lot of things she didn't.

I am an empath should I open myself to your emotions, even just briefly, I would find it very difficult to pull away from it. Kailin sighed. There is a double edge sword to knowing someone that intimately. To this day I can feel the way my wife would feel when we kissed. I will never be free of it. The same could easily happen with anyone or any emotion.

She frowned a little more and then shook her head. "I sthat why you stopped so abruptly? So you wouldn't?"
