She'd felt so out of place here among these people. They were nothing like her own and her heart missed the sea and the stars more than anything, almost anything, it missed one thing more. Him.

It always missed him.

She couldn't stop that.

The days seemed so long and she wished t have the power to make them move quickly but that was not to be.

And yet, one week later, she found herself back in a place she had been not too long ago. Her cloak pulled tightly around her she waited and watched and stood as the crowds seemed to vanish she stayed. Just watching.

Kailin had felt her almost as soon as he saw her. It was like being in the presence of the other half of his mind, his other heart. He faded with teh crowd and came up behind her feeling just a bit mischievous. He wrapped his arms around her and whispered.

I have seen many worlds among the stars yet none are so beuatiful as you my lady.

She smiled, leaning back into him, her hands covering his arms. "But worlds look nothing like people and you cannot compare the beauty of one to the other." She turned her head, pressing a kiss to his lips before turning around in his arms.

Blinking she slowly pulled back and took him all in, a frown falling over her face. "Kailin, I don't understand."

That is where you are wrong my lady for you are to one man the very world upon which he lives.

Kailin kissed her gently. He had expected her reaction when she turned to see him. He gently pressed his finger to her lips and smiled. I have a surprise for you My Dear but I can not bestow it upon you until we are home for it may cause indecent actions for the public eye.

She just watched him sadly and slowly nodded, her head bowed slightly.

Something inside her dreaded this, some pull telling her she would be leaving his side before the day was finished.

Do not despair. Kailin walked with her to the transport so they could return to where they had been staying. In away the sadness made him smile because he knew what a surprise was in store. At the same time he hated to see her anything but happy.

She watched out the window, the world moving sadly by and it made her home sick, and now that she felt that she had lost him and what they had too.

Iris was fighting so hard not to cry, she was sure all her hopes and dreams were completly trashed.

Kailin slid his arm around her and tried to pull her attention back to him.

I have brought you something my dear. He commented producing the beautiful red box.

Slowly Iris shook her head, her hands coming to rest on top of the box, "I can't. Kailin," as she closed her eyes tears fell down her cheeks and she shifted, hiding her face in his neck.

"Everything we wanted...I should never have...If I had kept my powers...this is all my fault."

Kailin shook his head at her.

My dear this is a gift from Li not one from me. I suggest you take it.

"I don't want her gifts," she pulled back, "Kailin, all I want is you, is us, and there's nothing in that box that can..."

Iris wanted to be back in the place they were staying, back in bed and not here, not in this transport. She just wanted to hide away. "I was going to be yours."

You are most difficult. Kailin commented as they pulled up to Alun's home.

You were a goddess yourself and know very well what sort of gifts can be put in any place even within a small box.

Kailin was a bit frustrated with her as he slid out of the transport to walk with her to the house and the area that they stayed in.

"I just got my hopes up," she whispered sadly, "I really thought that we'd get a break. That we could be together."

Stopping him she looked up into his eyes, "I do love you, I really do. And I am so sorry for everything."

Her hand slipped from his arm and she headed into their quarters, "I never meant to be difficult, but I had my heart set on this."

Kailin's frown deepened. It was my understanding my lady that you wished a gift from Li. I do not believe it is wise to reject it now that it has been given.

"But this..." She closed her eyes, "Kailin this..." Wish a sigh and a sad heart she moved towards him and held out her hand.

Kailin took her hand and placed a light kiss on her cheek. The goddess does not let down those who have her favor. You should have more faith in her power and the ways she chooses to work.
