So I conquered a 5.8 pitch last night at the rock gym. I've been solid on 5.6 ratings and trying, vainly, to manage the two 5.7 rated ones, but the 5.8...well, it looked do-able and I'd gotten about half way through it last week, including most of the hardest part - the overhang.
It was incredibly hard and exciting and several other things that produce bad double entendres. My whole body was shaking by the time I got to the point I'd reached last week. I was convinced I was going to lose my grip several times, my hands and legs were shaking so badly.
But I did it. :)
And I'm determined to do it again. The rush of that much adrenaline is ... probably addictive given that my whole body, 12 hours later, is screaming "AGAIN!!!" at the thought. (And I'm relieved that it's now the giddy, giggly, excitement phase instead of the panicked, slightly hysterical laughing stage I was at when I finished the climb.)
Thank you
fallen42 for being a wonderful belay for that climb...and to
meliny for the support from the ground level.
(And
mshathvri - we should discuss our bet parameters...I still don't think it's fair to hold you to it when you've been on the injured list.)
