Since I'm a priest, it's obvious that I'm a theist--a henotheist panentheist if you want to be ridiculously precise. However, I'm not wanting to lecture everyone. What religious systems do you all have where you come from? Do you adhere to them ( Read more... )

I believe in the Forgotten Shadow, the power of myself and the idea that I can and will twist the world to my own ends.

The opposite of the Holy Light, I guess. We're the ones who've been forgotten. The ones forsaken by humanity, by everything we held dear. The shadow is the sum of our pain, our anger, our fear. It is a power that ultimately serves us.

'Course, you ask another Forsaken, they could tell you something entirely different.

It sounds like your philosophy is very respectful of personal differences. That's fascinating.

[He's not mocking her. Glaukir is entirely sincere.]

Group what now?

Listen. We reject the Holy Light, because it abandoned us. But we respect one another and th' universe, because if you don't respect those who deserve it, you're gonna get hurt. At th' same time, you want to gain personal power so that you can exact your will on the world. The universe is moldable, see?

This is really interesting. Thank you for explaining it to me.

[Again, he's totally sincere.]

What I meant by group pathos is... if you imagine the fear or pain as a drop, each adherent to your people's philosophy contributes a drop to the group, and all the drops create a pool of power--which you then believe you should use to mould the universe to your will. Or am I misunderstanding you?

Eh. Sorta...? It's more like the universe can be molded by th' individual if he or she amasses enough power.
