a.k.a Interactive Meme #1
This is a twist on the Letter Meme. Instead of coming up with ten items for a certain letter, you come up with five song titles for a certain letter and explain why you picked them.
If interested then leave a comment. I'll give you a letter. You post this blurb in your journal along with your list. (Download links welcome, but not required.) ^_^
Let me start off with the letter "S".
1. "Strong and Strike" (Naruto OST 1) - well i've been watching Naruto for a while now (yup, it's one of those pasttimes i share with the koi. ^_^) and a lot of the bagckground music makes creative use of traditional music and electric guitars. this piece is usually played just when the action in an episode gets going. as such, it's a pretty rousing, piece, something to get you inspired.
2. "Summertime", The Sundays - i like this band, especially when they were starting out. their first albums came out at around the same time as The Smiths, and gave me a "happy break" from all of the angst. eheheh
3. "(If You Love Somebody) Set Them Free", Sting - this was transitional Sting, when his music still had vestiges of The Police in them. I like the song and the message. free, free, set them free...
4. "Sleep", Barbie's Cradle - from the self-titled album. i'm kinda sad Barbie Almalbis sold out, but it was inevitable i guess. i'm actually happy she kept her artistic integrity for as long as she did. this is an example of the quirky music from the "old days" of her sound.
5. "Sweet Surrender", Sarah Maclachlan - i've listened to her music as far back as when i was still in Canada. and she's still pretty darn good.
