So, the NYC subway system and buses are full of bedbugs! Oh joy! I'll just stay in my apartment forever if that's okay with everybody. There's been at least 21 sightings over the summer. When it first started, the Nuisance was still here, and he made sure to tell me that he'd "accidentally" gotten on one of the lines that was heavily infested. Smiling of course, like it was a big fucking joke.
I think I deserve a cookie for not punching him square in the face after that. He thought the fact that Mom and I suffered so terribly during our infestation two years ago and are still paranoid about bedbugs was funny.
Speaking of bugs, thankfully my upstairs neighbors have not gotten an infestation this year. Good, because if they had, me and Mom would need to be committed. Or incarcerated, because I'd probably be driven to violence at this point.
In fact, it's been incredibly quiet upstairs ever since they were forced to put carpet down a few months ago. The child has not been back since then; we don't know if he moved away, if they told his parents he was no longer permitted upstairs due to all the trouble he caused, or something else entirely. The point is he's no longer stomping around over our heads at 1 AM. The fact that his visits often coincided with their infestations makes us wonder if he was coming from an infested home himself, and was bringing them over on his clothes or in his bags. Another reason to be glad he's gone if so.
As long as they're quiet and bedbug-free, we don't mind them being above us. Hopefully they stay that way.
