Actually just wanted to give a quick update, and let anyone who was actually concerned with my Guns N' Roses dilemna know that Axl Rose fucking cancelled!!!!!!!!!! Luckily, I had decided to roady for Goatwhore that night (and what a fucking night, it was great!), and didn't have to deal with paying too much for a concert that didn't happen.
The reason for his canceling? He couldn't drink alcohol on stage. Instead of sucking it up and just taking shots behind the amps between songs like everyone else does, he throws a hissy fit and cancels the entire show.................didn't see this coming.
Good for us though, we got a wave of pissed off GN'R fans that made their way down to the better concert, and received their "Axl Rose is a bitch" discount at the door >:)
On top of that, the help I provided for the bands that night may turn into something down the line. The promoter for this show is the man to see for metal concerts in Maine, and apparently I left a good impression, as he not only asked me to help handle his next big show, but even left me in charge during part of the last show *is the man*
While this isn't anything I'm looking to get rich from, I'm really quite excited about it. I love the atmosphere, and I love being able to offer my assistance in something I'm fully competent at. While I have no intentions of riding on someone else's success, I think I have enough to offer that we could take this to the next level, and perhaps expand our reach to different band talents that at the moment do not come to this area. Of course it would also be an opportunity for me to learn different areas of the business as well; as an example, the sound guy working the last show was absolutely incredible, and harmonics is something that has always interested me. Really hoping this turns into something more :)
