Photos capture memories of your past. By looking at them, they remind you of the past so the memories are not lost.

So, what's the harm in displaying framed photos so you see them everyday? The past is the past, and the present is the present, right?

Your past is precious. It's a part of you. Why hide those pictures from past eras of life, or even past relationships?

Recently, a conversation with a friend changed my philosophy on photo displays at home. He helped me realize that seeing the past everyday truly does effect the present, and possibly the future.

I only had 4 framed photos up. Two of them were of me and my last boyfriend from 2000 and 2002, another one was of my family from 2000, and another one was of a bunch of coworkers and me from 1999.

It made me stop to think why I haven't landed a real serious relationship since then. Perhaps those pictures aren't so innocent after all. Maybe they are preventing me from moving forward in more ways than one.

So I took them down on Saturday. I must say, it was extremely liberating!
