1. Introduction
Based on a prompt from a 100 Themes Challenge I’m trying to do.
Disclaimer: If I owned Axis Powers Hetalia, it’d be a lot slashier, Canada would be more than an afterthought and I’d know Japanese. As none of these things are true, I don’t own, so don’t sue.
The Vikings loved exploring and whenever Iceland got the chance to join them he did so. It wasn’t as if his country was structured enough to really need the nation, and the only fighting going on were the raids his people made. This particular trip Leif Ericsson found more than he bargained for when he landed at what he called Vinland. From the ships Iceland had spotted a young boy, and immediately recognized him as a brother nation. When they eventually landed Iceland tried to find the boy, as rather unsuccessfully. Iceland wondered curiously who the boy was, he didn’t think that England or France had made it this far yet, but the boy was blonde, totally unlike the native peoples. After a few hours of searching, right as he was about to give up, Iceland found him. Or rather the boy found Iceland.
“Aah, hello, I’m Iceland, who are you?”
The boy obviously recognizing another that was like him, even if he didn’t know about nations, or even that there were other parts of the world, responded: “My people call me Kanata.”
It was only the first meeting between the two nations but Iceland had a feeling that they wouldn’t see each other again for a long time.
