Yeah, I think I finally focused most of this drabble set on Tamaki rather than on Kyouya. With Kyouya, I notice that the drabbles tend towards inner thoughts, and with Tamaki, the drabbles go from lots of dialogue, to lots of dreaming.
IMHO, I think Tamaki in seme mode overpowers "Kyouya-essence", which is why Kyouya was very pwned here. I love how you describe the jarring part, with Tamaki's "Im-scared-Kyouya-what-are-you-doing" and "Imma-eat-u-up-darn-interruptions" modes. It was what I was aiming for, roughly (young Tamaki going from one extreme to another with dizzying speed that young Kyouya's still not used to), but I wasn't sure if it was jarring in a bad way, or in the way I wanted... or if the way I wanted was bad... Uh, ... *worried look*...
And yes, Kyouya's a bit cowed by Umehito's rather ... unique qualities. I've been speculating whether he felt more off-kilter with Tamaki or Umehito *blinkblink* Probably Umehito. Better the devil you know then the devil you don't, or something like that, I guess. For now ^_~
Ah, and when the line about benefits came out, I knew Kyouya was recovering from Tamaki seme mode!

Well, now that you said it, it kind of makes sense that Tamaki goes from one extreme to another. It's exactly his personality type. I think that's why Kyouya and Haruhi are the perfect foil for his personality because it takes much effort to ruffle their feathers as opposed to Tamaki's sensitive ones.

It's jarring yes.. in a good way. (Told you I loves seme Tamaki :evil grin:) Though I'm not sure about other readers. I guess that's where subjectivity comes in. If the way you wanted was bad, then... I love you! Hahahahaha!! (:pushes off Bad Tamaki from her mind:)
About Kyouya on Nekozawa, I think you hit the spot. Kyouya, with his infinite greatness, got to know how to handle Tamaki very early on. I think with Nekozawa being 'phenomenally difficult to apporach', Kyouya was having a hard time thinking how to use him for his nefarious plans. Hehe.
Oh and did I tell you I love this piece of work? That's because I read somehwere that you use existing facts/scenes from the manga and you incorporate them with some fictional ones. I consider myself lucky because even though I can't get a copy of the manga, I get to read some parts of it. Thank you!

But your "Bad Tamaki"... now that's something, haha. Not seeing it. I mean, I can see it, but I can't see it in canon, tis all. Bad Tamaki would make for very interesting fan fiction, that's for sure. Predominantly crack, unless someone is willing to have a go... (I'd be very happy to read about a seriously bad Tamaki if it means more good fan fics!)

I try to write a bit more about what I'm doing in the warnings/spoilers section, so I'm guessing you read there that I've been trying to work around existing facts/scenes from the manga without lifting chunks directly from them? I can send you a link to some Chinese manga scans that are fairly up to date, but that site has somewhat low quality scans that make the characters hard to read the closer they are to the book spine. I haven't actually seen English scanlations online though, because I bought the manga... but do you want the Chinese link?

I think I'd go look at internet shops for the manga. although internet delivery to my country is not always reliable...

I'm guessing you're asking what volume is out by now in English... I think 6... but I read that 7 was coming out around this month. As for the Chinese volumes, there's up to vol 8 out. The scans are almost all of volume 8 too.
