I Am Running Around in All Directions

I am not quite acting like a chicken with its head cut off (and yes, children, that was a thing in the days when one might dispatch a chicken for dinner), but whatever I'm doing is very close to that. I shall search for a simile when I have time ( Read more... )

Aw, good luck with getting it all done - and most of all, good luck with all the medical excitements. *sends hugs*

medical excitements

I like that turn of phrase! Although I have to admit, they're something south of excitement, and more "gritted teeth live-throughs." Heh.

Aww. Be thankful for anaesthetics and modern pain relief?? (Sorry, I keep spending way too much time in the past!) *hugs again* Yikes.

Oh, definitely! I'm old enough to remember being put under by extremely unpleasant ether (slick square of rubbery material placed over one's nose, followed by a sort of cage-like thing attached to your nose above the square of rubber, terrible smell, and pinwheels in front of your eyes as you sort of fall away into darkness) - not the best thing for an impressionable four-year-old.

Today's sedatives, put into you quietly via intravenous line, are much nicer. (I do remember, for one of my other childhood operations, getting something put over my nose that smelled like cherries or strawberries. That was much nicer than the ether.)

Oh, and your icon reminds me, I watched some of Shadow of the Tower via YouTube, and I think the acting in it (other than James Maxwell) got better as the episodes went on. The actress playing his wife was a little "stagey" at first, but improved vastly, in my not very humble opinion.

And oh, Maxwell's voice! There was something about the way he presented Henry VII!

I'm lucky - this year was the first time I ever had to have an anaesthetic! (Although coming round is still rotten!)

I very much hope your procedure went well! *hugs you very gently*

And, yes, something is very off in at least parts of Ep1 all round, really, I don't know what was going on there (and Norma West is indeed much better later on; perhaps it was just the acting down as a teenager she wasn't so good at, who knows?). Or, very likely, being a fellow fannish sort, you can easily imagine exactly how happy I felt. :-D ( ... )
