How To Make The Coming Week Better
Actually, I don't have a recipe for making the coming week better, so that's a rather misleading headline. But I want to make the week better. So, lack of recipe notwithstanding, how do I do it?
Plan to do a good job on every story I write, but don't get trapped by my fears of not doing a good job. After all, on Friday, I wrote a feature the way I used to - with confidence and focus. If I did it once, I can do it again.
Look forward to the wedding reception of Sarah, the daughter of my heart, and her husband, Christian. They got married last week, and honeymooned in New Orleans, but are holding the reception as a party for all of their friends. I am so glad to see her happy, with someone she loves, as likes.
Help out the Chicago Cubs by not watching their National League Pennant game with the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight. Or any night, actually. It's worked so far. Shush, magical thinking does so work....
Concentrate on some of the good things that I've gotten done this weekend. For instance, I've set up a shared document with BB that not only sets up menus for the coming week, but has a list of what we have available in our freezer, fridge, cupboards and larder. This will, I hope, cut down on the amount of food we waste by forgetting it's there, and having it go out of date, or going bad in the back of the refrigerator. We can't afford that. I don't know if this will stick, but it's worth a try.
Write some old-fashioned thank you notes to some of the folks I got to visit while in Nova Scotia. I've been meaning to do it since we got back, and I think sending them out now will still be timely.
Restart my exercises, which I've neglected for the past two weeks.
And get a good night's rest tonight.
Yeah, that's a start, right?
