This weekend we made a costco run. One of the things on the list was reasonably healthy and portable snacks.
I've taken to eating granola bars (and things like granola bars) for breakfast. They're quick, easy to eat in the car, a limited portion size, and usually a decent mix of carbs and protein, if I'm careful about the kinds I get.
Two new ones from the trip to costco:
1. Kashi TLC bars. Honestly, I really don't like these much. They're the texture of rice crispies only more dense, and about as much flavor. Very very dry.
2. Mrs. May's "Trio" bars. I was skeptical - they're kosher, vegan, wheat free, dairy free, gluten free, organic, and contain no genetically modified organisms. These are called trio bars because there are 3 nuts, 3 seeds, and 3 fruits in each bar. The one I had this morning (tropical fruit flavor) was surprisingly good. crunchy but not crisp, a bit sweet but not too sweet. The crunch comes from the nuts and seeds, of which there are many. Definitely something we'll buy more of after I finish off the box.
