Today was rather unusual, as far as Cottage family holidays are concerned. I was the first one awake this morning. So I came wandering down the stairs, ate some Whoppers and took my place on the couch to read. Then my parents woke up and Mom made ham and eggs. Then off to church we went. Normal so far for an Easter morning. But it was all downhill from there...
Lunch was not served. Since we had ham and eggs for breakfast, no one wanted ham again for lunch. But there wasn't much else to eat in the house. So we went lunchless. Then at about 2 we all gathered round the table in desperate hunger. Veggies and crackers were served. Everyone was anxiously anticipating one of our favorite meals, pork and macaroni, for dinner. Then the unthinkable happened. The macaroni was bad.
My mother is an excellent cook, and certainly capable of properly fixing macaroni. But sadly, it was not meant to be. So we ate our pork roast and choked down a few macaronis each then retired to the living room to sulk. Then inspiration struck in the form of The Food Network. They were showing The Secret Life of Pizza. So we called every pizza place around, but it's Easter. No one in their right mind wants pizza on Easter. But never fear. Mom to the rescue!!! She saved the day with a frozen pizza! (which was slightly undercooked, but that's really beside the point)
Thus endeth the story of The Cottage family Easter.
