I would have been at Sasquatch right now, but that never happened. How long has it been since I updated? About six weeks, I suppose. What's up.

About a month ago, a nearly-missed myspace bulletin announced the Actual Last Swayze Show Ever. It was the same weekend as the Dismemberment Plan reunion shows, which made me feel less bad about missing that. It cost me a bit of money to pull off the trip, though, and part of the reason I had to pull out of Sasquatch this year. I've still got credit for that plane ticket, so Northwest area friends, I may see you soon.

So. No more Swayze. Given that now only 25% of the band lives in Gainesville, and Jesse is a couple thousand miles away, I think they mean it this time.

Speaking of my old sorta friends in Gainesville bands, here's something I wouldn't have expected: Pitchfork reviews my friends Morningbell. Something I would expect from such a review: The phrase "anonymous, aqueous Shinsiness." It's both so Pitchfork and so Morningbell, like a snotty insult that the Atrias would wear proudly. And really, calling out Morningbell for being gimmicky? I've been (lovingly) doing that for years already, thanks.

And me? What am I doing, anyway? My roommate bought an awesome puppy: a Bull Terrier he named Stewie who commands approximately 95% of my attention. Pictures coming sometime maybe. I have a new camera now that I really ought to use. Besides that, I've been listening to a lot of Monkees, taking the summer off from grad school, and trying to figure out how to be a teacher. Sometimes my classes are really awesome, but I still often feel like I'm doing every possible thing wrong. It passes, though. I love the school I'm working at and I'm having more fun working than I ever had before.
