Progress on the Art Show

So... here's what I've been working on for the past couple weeks..

Icarus of Awesomeness

I finished the pen work last night and was excited to finally scan it and get to the colors.. I had a setback in the form of my scanner being too small and too contoured to scan the piece. I was going to piece it together in Photoshop, but the glass isn't flush with the top of the scanner, so it kept scanning out of focus. :( And, of course, my illustration board was 110# and wouldn't bend to touch the glass, either. I ended up taking a photo with my awesome new camera.. but the resolution turned out to be less than ideal for doing digital art.

Luckily!! We have a large flatbed scanner here at work, and I brought my picture just in case, so I can use that when I have a few minutes, and move forward again tonight.

Also, I couldn't get my tablet to work (AGAIN!! I'm getting really tired of wrangling with that stupid thing.. maybe it's time I invested in a Wacom that's not 15 years old), so I ended up working on my laptop anyway. At least, thank heavens, I have that option.

The plan (crosses fingers) is to finish the picture on Wednesday; on Thursday I'll need to find some nice 11x17 paper and get it printed at a copy center, then have a mat cut, and stick it in a ready-made 18x24 frame; and then Friday I have to turn it in on campus - our office closes at noon on Friday so the movers can come take our stuff up to South Jordan, so I'm hoping the drop-off works out smoothly.

If worse comes to worst and I don't finish in time, I *could* just frame the original pen drawing and turn that in to the show, but I hope it doesn't come to that.
