Optimistic :)

Feeling good today. :) It's become fall, and I have fun things going on this week (seeing "Thriller" tomorrow with Isaura, date on Thursday, and Snow Patrol concert on Saturday!). I'm wearing a fun hat, I enjoy my work, and I just sent off a letter to the City Attorney's Office asking for an update (it's been a few months).

I got stuff done this weekend: I hooked up VCR and DVD player to the TV in the living room, folded and put away 3 loads of laundry, rearranged DVD towers/bookshelf in the living room, unpacked "fun books" and put them on said bookshelf. Now I have to clear away the junk from the bookshelf in my room so I can unpack my text/reference books. Also, during Conference I practiced some needlework - I bought a plain black hoodie recently with the vision of adding X-Men patches to the shoulders (my Horde hoodie is falling apart), but I couldn't find any actual patches of the regular circle-X symbol, so I decided to embroider them myself. Then I decided I should practice first, since I've never done it before. I'm glad I did; but it's going to be cool when it's done. XD I am such a geek.

I've lost a total of 17 pounds so far, and just started Phase 3 of the workout last night. Last night was back to Phase 1's "chest & back" (push-ups and pull-ups), and I did a lot better than I expected. In fact, I did really well. Also, most of my pants are uncomfortably loose now. I'm not sure if I've gone down any sizes yet, per se, but I'm definitely on the way. In the last month I've lost about an inch circumference off my arms, too. I just need to make sure I stay tight on the plan while adding a few carbs back in, and don't go overboard. (Made more bran muffins this weekend - tasty tasty!!) It's been two months now since I've eaten a potato. ^_^

Yesterday I got my oil changed at Walmart, and had a very successful shopping trip while I waited. I found a new new purse to replace the old new purse I got from Shopko that wasn't big enough (so today at lunch I'm going to return the old new purse), and I got a new steering wheel cover (my old one was coming apart) and sun-shade (4 months late, I know) that have fun butterflies on them. I wanted to get the matching seat-covers, too, but they were $20 apiece, so I decided to think about it later. I don't really need seat-covers, but they'd be cute and matchy. I also got some ear plugs for the concert on Saturday. :D

Another big deal is that I've been agonizing over planning my Halloween costume for the past couple weeks - my department's theme is Alice in Wonderland, and I was given the Queen of Hearts because I can sew - and I didn't know if I wanted to pump $100 into a costume so specific that I'd never wear it again, or if I wanted to go more generic and have myself another Renaissance dress... Yesterday I finally looked at the Disney Queen of Hearts' costume from a construction standpoint, figuring out what patterns I have that I could piece it together with... and then I found this pattern. The one on the left - imagine it parti-colored red and black, with a black and yellow chevron'd underskirt and a white collar. Except for the collar needing to be bigger (I discovered that the one I want is called a "Medici collar"), it's pretty much perfect. Hehe.. I'm going to the fabric store after work today to see what I can find. I'll probably just go with cotton prints to keep the cost down (it's not like I have to be historically accurate here), but it's going to be interesting figuring out how much I need when the overdress is two different colors. I'll have to calculate layout-wise instead of just dividing the fabric in half. Ah well. I love fabric shopping..

And this morning I pointed my coworker to Sock Dreams to try to find stripey socks for her costume, and I bought some b&w checkered tights and b&w striped tights for my own costume (I couldn't decide), and these fun skeleton gloves for driving. Yay!

In other news, one thing that has been irritating lately is that my internet at home seems to completely dry up at night. Several times now I'll be watching something just fine on Hulu or Youtube, and suddenly it'll stop and refuse to load at all for the rest of the night. Last night it stopped at the last 9 minutes of "Dollhouse" (trying yesterday because it wouldn't work Sunday night) at precisely 11pm. I can usually squeeze out enough internet juice to play WoW, but streaming video is absolutely impossible. And on top of that, I've been having trouble getting my torrent client to cooperate with the new apartment's internet. I can't remember off-hand the error I'm getting, but I'll check it again when I get home.

Also, I just renewed my LJ account, including extra icons, and I realized that I have TONS of icon space that I'm not using. I decided if I'm paying for it, I should be using it, right? So now I feel like hunting for icons. :P I'm into a few new TV shows that need representation, and there's some gorgeous art out there that I could icon-ize, and some seasonal ones, and I'd like some airy/earthy, peaceful-types, too. People, where do you go to find icons? What are your favorite icon communities?

I also want to make a custom mood-theme. I was working on an Avatar theme once upon a time, but I'm thinking now that maybe I should work at making a Muse mood-theme. Hmmmm....... ^_^
