There is news: Désirée will have a third name: Alice. Her full name will be Désirée Alice Judith. I like the sound of them.
Lately, the progress is rather spectacular. Until my 20th week there was not that much to see, but ever after that, I took photos in w two week rhythm and the development is staggering. Since last week I cannot wear normal trousers anymore. Fortunately, I have a number of maternity pants, some via ebay, the others a present from my Swiss friend Andi. When I visited him last weekend he was very generous and took me out on a shopping spree in a big mall near Baden. He also bought some tiny baby clothes for the first month and a musical soft toy, a funny little girl. I would never have spent that kind of money on that kind of stuff, but a given horse...
The reason I went to Switzerland was the premiere of "Hamlet" directed by my cousin Jan Bosse at the Schauspielhaus Zurich on Saturday, March 3. A very impressive piece of work by (almost) all involved (I absolutely hated Gertrud and Ophelia and Laertes didn't do much for me either). The stage setting was incredibly ingenious, a hall of mirrors in which three rows of white-clothed banquet tables were set in a rectangle, presided by the king's table at the high end. The play took place in the middle of the stage and actors appeared in/from and disappeared into the audience. The four hours were very long though, the 30 minute interlude set after more than three hours. I could have done without the ending because it didn't add anything new or interesting to the whole and my feet were swollen and silently killing me. But all in all Jan did his growing fame justice with this daunting classic.
It was nice to meet his parents and brother, too, and his girlfriend, who is pregnant like me but expecting appr. two weeks later
I have been working very hard lately, gathering every cent possible because the total of my earnings over the twelve months preceding the birth will determine the height of my income for the ensuing fourteen months. Hopefully it will be enough to feed me, my child and my two cats...
