The stablehand just came to tell me: the twins have arrived. Usually, when a horse foals twins, one does not survive. But the stablehand also says that at least so far, both are alive, and that the vet is looking them over to see about their health ( Read more... )

He is more than welcome, in a few days, once Breezy's back to herself. I just got word from the vet that both foals not only survived, but also appear completely healthy.

That is indeed very fortunate. I'd recommend supplementing both of them though with some bottle feed, although I'm sure your grooms have already thought of that. Even the best mother is going to have a hard time feeding both.

Most definitely. That will be a new experience for me; I've never bottle-fed a foal before. Of course, there's also never been twins, so I haven't had to.
