The stablehand just came to tell me: the twins have arrived. Usually, when a horse foals twins, one does not survive. But the stablehand also says that at least so far, both are alive, and that the vet is looking them over to see about their health ( Read more... )

What splendid news. I shall keep my fingers crossed for a good report from the vet.

As I also find myself awake at this late hour why don't I make my way to yours and we can pass some time together over a few games.

That would be lovely. It will keep me from pacing worrying about the horses.

I'll have to tell Dai the good news. You can be sure he's going to be trying to visit you soon.

He is more than welcome, in a few days, once Breezy's back to herself. I just got word from the vet that both foals not only survived, but also appear completely healthy.

That is indeed very fortunate. I'd recommend supplementing both of them though with some bottle feed, although I'm sure your grooms have already thought of that. Even the best mother is going to have a hard time feeding both.

Most definitely. That will be a new experience for me; I've never bottle-fed a foal before. Of course, there's also never been twins, so I haven't had to.

Oh my gosh! Really! They're here! Are they going to be okay?! Do I need to do anything?!

The vet says they both appear quite healthy. A bit smaller than usual, but that's to be expected given the circumstances, and it shouldn't prevent them from reaching full size by adulthood.

For now, there's nothing to do. The vet is going to keep an eye on them for a day or two just to be sure, and he'll teach me how to mix a bottle supplement for them, which I will pass on to you and Ryoma. But as of right now, we wait.

That's good. I'm glad they are healthy, that is most important.

...okay. If anything comes up, I'll be around the house all of today.

I'm glad for it too. I wish I didn't have to work today; I could go and take a peek at the little family.

Alright. We should be able to see them, soon.

Yes, horsie. They're here, and the vet has assured me they're all nice and healthy.
