Despite popular belief, I am still alive. And doing well. Although not as well as I was expecting to do.
Everything was secured about Ben coming back here. It was planned, he would stay with me until he had a job secured, and he already did have a job secured at Winter Park but was looking for something in Summit County.
And then the stupid park service had to go and offer him the winter seasonal job at his park. And he couldn't really turn it down, they'd also almost set him up so that he couldn't say no.
So he's staying in Michigan for the winter. And it broke my heart. There was a very brief discussion about my going up there, but I don't think that's really going to happen, although I suppose it's still a slight possibility.
And then he was supposed to come back in a week and a half and visit. His dad was going psycho-anal about getting his furniture out of storage in Winter Park. And then when we talked today, his dad was a lot less anal about that, and instead was saying it wouldn't make sense to go out to Colorado. And I suppose October isn't necessarily the best time to visit Colorado anyway. So he's probably not coming out here in the next couple weeks. But he wants to see what his Christmas schedule will look like, so maybe he can come out for Christmas. And his friend from home Mike also wants to do a huge ski trip in January. So maybe somehow he can come back for both. I hope so. Because I think that was one of the hardest parts, was that we were already planning on going on ski trips together and planning on spending Christmas together. So, maybe we can still do that. I don't know. It's just tough, and it seems to keep getting tougher.
Stupid National Park Service.
