I currently find myself suffering from post-school hangover; the fact that we’re on vacation still hasn’t completely sunk in, surprisingly. :b I constantly feel as though I’m forgetting some homework for submission or an upcoming quiz. I half-expect reminders for the following week sent via text message on my cell phone. March 14th didn’t feel like the final day of the school year. In fact, it seemed like any ordinary end-of-exam-week Friday, only a tad busier.
Everyone was occupied that day, with thoughts of making the teachers sign their clearance, the sheet of paper that supposedly determines whether one is to be admitted to the next level or not. I say “supposedly” because this is what the teachers tell us, but it’s not necessarily true that if ever one does not complete his requirements for the quarter, he repeats a year level. Everyone knows this, of course, and they only complete their projects for the sake of the grade and the teacher’s salary.
Said projects are an absolute pain in the arse; the cause of our discomfort mostly being the scrapbooks in computer and food tech. Every year, submission of such wastes of paper is mandatory, and to add to our ever-increasing level of stress, there’s the English newspaper.
I liked the concept, and I enjoyed writing the articles (I was assigned as one of the primary writers for the paper), but we were the ones who had to do the formatting for the layout of the whole thing. Now, I don’t really have the right to complain, since it was my wonderful group mate Mariane who did all that, and more; she barely even slept for three nights straight working on it, staying awake on Coke Zero caffeine. And for that, we group mates all <3 her to pieces. The group really should have chosen her for the leader, not me. I envy her motivation.
But I’m not saying the rest of the group didn’t do their part in the creation of our newspaper. On the contrary; if not for our united efforts (naks! Lunctis Viribus!), we wouldn’t have submitted it on time.
So I extend my thanks to my other group mates: Raymund (fellow writer), for the articles and for running all the way to Netopia with Mariane and back to school, just so we could finish on time;
Benedict, writer of progress reports, for bringing the printer and his laptop;
Nico, for also bringing your laptop, as well as for the songs you let me copy onto my flashdrive *wink*;
Andrea & Blessie (both literary writers), for your contributions;
Jamie, for uhm, your support and effort;
Ji-Young & Mary Rose (encoders), for the uh, well…encoding.
Great job, guys! XD
My food tech scrapbook group (led by our very own
genicakes) also needs recognition; God forbid I forget them. Sadly, I was more of a hindrance than a help. *bows head in shame* I was given the captions to cut and paste onto some red construction paper (as I pride myself in being a very good cutter-er ^^) but for some unknown reason, they suddenly disappeared from the envelope the night before I was planning on bringing them to school for the final cutting and pasting. I was in hysterics here at home; I woke up at 4 am and looked everywhere, desperately hoping to find the uncut paper. Alas, I was greatly disappointed. In the end, I had to ask our teacher for a copy so I could duplicate them and finally get the whole thing over and done with. I sincerely apologize to
genicakes and the rest of my group mates (Blessie [
12marbles], Kenneth, Benedict…uhm, have I forgotten anyone?) for my incompetence and for the unnecessary delay I caused for the completion of the scrapbook.
As for the computer scrapbook, no comment on its progress. Once again, I did a lot of cutter-ing, but that’s about it. Nonetheless, I give credit to Grand, Nico, Christian, Rochelle, Arvin, and whoever else I may have forgotten (I’m sorry!) for the creation of the scrapbook cover, contents and the, uhm…effort. *sweatdrops* Here I humbly offer another apology for not being a big enough help…
…*sighs dejectedly* I am an idiot. But since we’re all aware of that, allow me to digress.
I am seriously going to miss our class. This was the most memorable school year I’ve had so far, and it pains me to have to face the possibility that I and my fellow très excellente students may not share the same classroom anymore. *sniff* It’s all very tragic, really. But still, I keep my fingers crossed. Who knows? It’s no use worrying about it now, and someone might take pity on us. :) Here’s hoping for the best.
~Lunctis Viribus!~
P.S...
Can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm actually looking forward to the next school year. Talk about ironic. (laughs)
