Regularly scheduled life update

I found a new apartment within the same zip code, yet far enough west where I *shouldn't* have as many obnoxious neighbors.  Considering I'll be two blocks from the city's second-largest cemetery, that cuts down on urban density.  And my hero, Marshall Field, founder of Marshall Field's, is residing there, so that's a plus.  The apartment includes brand new appliances and fixtures with a remodeled bathroom.  Heat and cooking gas are also included.  The company I have hired to do the moving gave me the most beautiful of moving estimates, too... between $200-400.  Thank God!  I can afford that.

My new neighborhood should be beneficial, as I already know five people within walking distance - with one just two blocks away.

I'm going to a bar tomorrow night with librarian friends from the north side to see a kid I knew in elementary school play in his band.  Haven't had contact with him since 1996, but we were friends when we were three years old, so we have some catching up to do -- if we recognize each other.

November looks to be full of travel and moving, but December is looking good - I'll go home for both Christmas and Thanksgiving, but I have four days off in the middle of December with nothing planned.  I'm thinking that would be a good time for guests to see my new place or for a road/rail trip to Milwaukee.  December 11-14th, anyone?  Kristkindlmarkt and lots of other special Christmas events going on....  Brand new Anthropologie opening downtown, and it might be the largest one I have ever seen.
