All I want for Christmas is my three front teeth.

YoungBloke has been undergoing dental treatment over the last couple of years to preserve his baby teeth since they have weaker enamel. To that end he's had metal crowns put on his pre-molars so he has silver teeth! At the last appointment in December the consultant was happy to discharge him back to our own dentist with the agreement that his canines needed to be removed shortly in order to facilitate the proper emergence and alignment of his eye-teeth. At the beginning of the Christmas holidays one of the crowned pre-molars started givingYB a lot of pain so we popped in to the dentist who diagnosed an infection and set up an appointment to remove the canines and the dodgy pre-molar.

Today was the day.

At home, before the appointment.

The extraction was very well managed. Sara the dentist gave YB plenty of happy air, then applied an anaesthetic gel to the upper gums. Once that had taken effect, she told him she was going to wash around the teeth with nasty-tasting soapy water - she was actually injecting local anaesthetic, totally unnoticed! Then there was some activity with probes and pliers, and some additional local because one tooth was determined not to sleep and equally determined to stay put, but Sara was even more determined. It would appear that YB got my crowded mouth and OldBloke's strong roots.

Straight after, still in the chair.

He spent the rest of the day in his onesie (yes, we succumbed) but actually made a very speedy recovery.
