Parents' evening

Oct 25, 2013 13:58

It was parents' evening again yesterday - it seems to come around very quickly. YoungBloke is doing well in all areas, it would appear. "Doesn't he write well!" said Mrs H. "Does he?" we replied. At home we have to wring the sentences out of him; at school it appears to flow - although typically for his age and, possibly, sex, he doesn't put himself out to do more than the bare minimum that's asked of him. I asked about his temper, after two years of teachers saying his reaction to getting things wrong worried them. "Well, with such a small school, we do all get to know the children very well and we do see how they manage, and I was concerned having seen him in earlier years. But I haven't seen any evidence of it this year." I let her know that he'd set himself the goal of not having any tantrums all year, and that he said on the way in that he might have had "two, or three, this year". No, she definitely didn't think there'd been any displays of temper in class, and she was very impressed with him setting his own target. "He's obviously worked very hard on that. Well done him." And she also agreed that maturity might have something to do with it too. So, no worries about him this year.

As a reward he got some Skylanders Giants underpants and PJs because I realised we didn't have enough for a week away...
