I'm glad to hear from you. I was rather surprised when you popped your head in through the door of the BP station food shop - for a moment I couldn't think what you meant about my license plate. And then I realized - oh, he must have read Ender's Game and liked it.
I thought of saying, Yes, I wrote it. But you know what? I thought it was MORE fun being taken for another reader of the book. So I didn't say anything, just enjoyed your enthusiasm. You really made my week! Because now I know what people say about my book behind my back . So rest assured, you DID "thank me in person."
And tell your friends that readers of Ender's Game don't lie! So if you tell people you met me, it's true, and I'll vouch for you if they care to write to me about it themselves!
