Thanks to Seanie's hard work, we're seeing fewer pantry moths.   He emptied all the cupboards, and stripped every shelf of the old contact paper that was on it when he moved in.  Every single surface was then cleaned twice - first with a horrid orange-scented chemical bath that killed and sterilized the wood.  It also gave me a massive headache and ( Read more... )

We have now managed to get the bugs in our house (first the larvae/grubs and then the flies) identified, so I can officially wail that we've been infested with pantry moths, which also sneak around under the name Indian Moth or Grain Moth. You remember those maggot-things I found in the kitchen last week?It turns out that I didn't eradicate them. How do I know, when the little worms have squiggled past me for several days? I had a truly disgusting experience this morning.  I was reaching up into the cupboard to pull out a box of cereal for breakfast, and this little...worm thing falls down onto the counter.  I squint and look a bit closer.  It looks like some sort of larvae, a maggot.  OH MY GOSH THERE ARE MAGGOTS IN MY KITCHEN!!!
