Today's midterm went...decently, I hope. My essay on French New Wave techniques in the American film Bonnie and Clyde was a little weak, I'm afraid, but hopefully it passes muster because I don't seem to have any time to do extra credit projects to make-up the points.
After the test, we watched
The Piano, which won quite a few Academy Awards back in the day. I have no idea why. It was one of the dullest movies I have ever watched, less riveting than watching paint dry. I wanted to get up and leave so much! The only thing that kept my butt planted in that theater was the knowledge that if I left early, I would have to pay to rent it at a later time, and that thought was just too painful. But ugh, I'm going to have to write a whole separate rant on why that film is awful. (My husband would probably sigh and say, "You just didn't like it because you don't like romantic movies," but I promise you it's more than just that!)
