New Year's Resolutions 2011: February

2011 New Year’s Resolutions Progress Update

Why am I talking about New Year's Resolutions in February?  It's all explained here.

1.       Set up a regular fitness routine.

Haven't done much for this one beyond researching local yoga studios.  I found one here in Almaden Valley that looks promising.  I'm thinking that I'll probably start going there later this month, after my school schedule has settled down into some sort of routine.  So hopefully, when I do this progress update in March, I'll have something more to report!

2.       Visit another country.

SJSU is offering a short summer program in Florence.  An art history program.  Done and DONE!  There's only twenty-four seats in the class, so I have to apply for it, but so far so good.  I've lined up a teacher to write my recommendation letter and should have this application ready to go long before the March 1st deadline.
So it looks like this resolution, at least, is lining up quite nicely.

3.       Get a 4.0.

Can't say much about this one.  The spring semester only just started on January 26th and we haven't done anything yet.

4.       Set up a school/career map.

I haven't done diddly squat with this one yet, either, although I'm seriously considering applying to join the art docent program at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco.  They're taking new docents, and it would be a good opportunity to start making connections up in the City...but I would have to change my work hours around, and it's a huge time commitment over the next two-three years.  So I am not sure I will end up pursuing it.
It would be a great opportunity, though.

5.       Complete an epic art piece.

Done nothing with this one either.
Well, nothing except that Jeannie and I have Groupons for a glass-blowing class.  Something epic could very well come out of that!

6.       Move out.

One of Sean's mother's friends owns a duplex.  Her tenant is moving out soon.  Sean's brother is already lining up one half of the duplex; Sean and I may be able to snag the other half.  Sean's mom *thinks* we'll be able to get a discounted rent.  We'll see.  My research has shown that for the high cost of renting here in San Jose, we could be making down payments on a home we own, so unless the rent is really cheap, I'm inclined to keep the status quo for now.
Oh well.  The current renter doesn't seem likely to move out for a couple of months yet, so we have time to debate this for a while yet.
