No Spanish for me! (For now)
I dropped the Spanish class. The more I thought about it, the more trouble it seemed. I mean, I can't carry on a conversation with my classmates, and the teacher says that an hour of each class meeting is going to be practicing our speech? I would fall behind so quickly, and it's not really fair to the people who get partnered with me. They won't learn, either, if they have to work with someone unprepared. I've always hated doing that in other classes.
I hate to do it, though. It seems like quitting, like giving up. I've given up on Spanish once before, when I stopped taking it after graduating high school. I don't want to abandon it again, because it's only going to get harder to learn as I get older...and sooner or later, I am going to need to know it. I don't want to be one of those obnoxious monolingual Americans all my life.
