Literary: Eat, Pray, Love vs. Drink, Play, F@#k

On my way back from Singapore 2 weeks ago, I picked up Elizabeth Gilbert's 2006 bestseller. I am now in a race against time to finish this before the movie gets onto pirated DVD the big screen. Given the 2 crazy weeks at work I haven't had time to get passed where I had stopped on the flight. With Mr. P in Tokyo for work next Tuesday to Friday, I foresee quality alone time to catch up on my reading. The book (up to page 100) is funny enough, contains historical tidbits on Italy / Italian (language); but on occassion draggy / preachy. Let's hope things improve.

I think Julia Roberts as Elizabeth looks mightily good in the trailers I've seen so far. I just hope it won't be another adaptation disappointment - e.g. Marley and Me, The Time Traveler's Wife and P.S. I Love You.

While I was buying said book I saw a parody novel - Drink, Play, F@#k. I have a feeling this could be a lot more fun (definitely more lighthearted). That'll be next on my reading list; I'll let you know how they compare.

P.S. Invictus - great book but I have a feeling the movie ain't gonna be as good.
