Just as a song to remind you of someone was about my grandmother who passed away, so is this song. Except this is the darker and more emo side (unfortunately). It was my twentieth year that she passed away, I was in tech school at Lackland AFB and on May 31st at around 10 o'clock I got a knock on the door. Now our curfew was nine but I hadn't gone to bed yet and I wondered who it could be, it was one of our Military Training Leaders and a Chaplain who took me outside and told me that my grandmother had passed away. Which was perhaps the singular most devestating thing that had really ever happened to me. I cried a good bit, got on the phone with my girlfriend at the time, Mel and that started a long black pall over the summer in which I battled a rather fierce depression (which is indeed rare for me).
The words "Never got a chance to say goodbye" just prevailed heavily in my whole thought process because I didn't. The last time I ever saw my grandmother was at the Olive Garden for my "going into the military" goodbye party. I knew her condition wasn't all that good, but I had been hoping that she was going to hang in there until september when I got into the Recruiters assistance program, I guess youthful hope put into play, I'm really a bit more realistic now.
That was the summer of win, in which my father rifled through my stuff and pretty much forced me out of the closet and my girlfriend cheated on me. It's not a summer that I really want to dwell upon and it's really no wonder that I acted the way I did when I forced myself into a relationship with Alexi. I really wanted to take a break on myself, and most important I didn't want to have to deal with anything but the here and now.
