Today I decided I couldn’t deal with smelling the carpets anymore so I started ripping them out. I’m not sure my back will forgive me for all the time I spent on the floor taking staples out of the hardwood.

So I cut up the carpet and started pulling it out. You know, this stuff looks a LOT easier on TV. The carpet was disgusting, smelled bad, and stained all over, oh and heavy. For now it’s sitting on the back deck waiting to get disposed of.
Turns out, carpets trap a lot of yuck underneath them. I swept up half of it before realizing I should take a picture of this stuff!
After pulling out staples, sweeping and mopping, the floor started looking really nice! And no more “animal” smell when I walk in the door.
In the picture above you can see how they didn’t finish the crown moulding. I’m debating whether to take it all down or if I should try to match it. And I need to finally decide on a paint color!!
But for now, I’m very pleased. :) SO much nicer!
