I agree with you. It appeared to me that this episode was being re-written even as it was filming. There were so many good ways to handle Isis and those ways were thrown out in the episode and were apparent to the viewer, and yet, those good ways and threads were not picked up and instead were left dangling before us.
You see the Sun God (and what else would anyone call Clark? He is the Sun God) brought to his knees by Isis. And you give a good plot for this to happen.
I've always seen Lana as Isis (she formed a foundation called Isis---of course Lana is Isis) and she has always been obsessive about Clark and wanting to possess everything about him. Secrets and Lies, Clark. She also, in her way, kept him with her on the Farm.
The show should have kept this Isis meme for Lana, if or when she comes back. Although Tess could work. Tess has been controlling and possessive of Clark and his abilities, too.

Would the 'Accidental Dropping of the Amulet of Isis in Lois's Bag' qualify or not qualify for that? It wasn't technically in the Shield episode. That makes it interesting.

Pay attention to the previouslies!
Ah ha! Not it makes so much since. My recorded copy of the episode cut all the the previouslies prior to Supergirl off.
Curse you Smallville! I had no idea the previouslies were required viewing.
