Happy 2009

the traditional korean dish for new years is a soup dish called "duk mandoo gook" when translated means, rice cake dumpling stew. the lee family met for lunch at my parents in laws and feasted on duk mandoo gook along with korean bbq. it was quite a feast. usually my mother in law and i work together in preparing the meal, however this year she did it all on her own. i kind of fibbed and said we were out of town for new years eve so i wouldn't have time to get to her place early in the morning when really we were at friends and just ended up sleeping in. i know, i'm a bad daughter in law! but after hosting 3 christmas dinner parties at our place, i just needed some time to myself.

i'm not big on new years resolutions because i never really keep to them but this year i started reflecting on the past year and realized i, we needed to make some serious changes in 09 if we wanted to achieve our goals. one being, starting a family.

the miscarriage really left a sour spot in my heart.
ed and i have always wanted to have our own family, whether we can or can not make one the old fashion way, we always had adoption in the back of my mind. today i really started doing some research into adopting from Korea and realized we have a lot of planning and preparing to do if we're going to go through with this.

there has been a million and one things i've always pushed aside thinking i'll always have time to get around to them but now it's a whole different story. i realize, if i want this year to be different it has to start with me. and so my journey begins.

hope you all had an amazing holiday season and happy new year bloggers!
