i was speaking with a girlfriend of mine this weekend and she told me about ovulation test sticks that i can take at home to determine the exact time of ovulation. i was planning on doing the same thing with my family doc but that meant i would have to go see him every week and the window of opportunity would be less because from what i've been ( Read more... )

hey girl...

how long have you & ed been trying for? if you're just starting to try now, DO NOT waste your money on ovulation sticks. really, they're only intended for couples who have been trying for months w/ no success - and are trying to determine when the woman is ovulating.

i made the mistake of paying $50 for a kit and it didn't work for me. charlie and i tried for 4 months straight w/ no luck - i had a looong cycle, so my ovulation was wacky...so i thought purchasing the kit would help me out. it didn't.

we only got pregnant b/c i gave up on trying. i think we put too much pressure on ourselves and it really had an impact. as soon as we let go of trying to 'control' everything...we got pregnant. key is to enjoy the 'act' and not think of it as 'work' - b/c it does feel like it's work after awhile. ; P

we've been really trying for about 8months now but have unoffically been trying for over a year with no luck.

yah tell me about it, it totally feels like work which sucks - it takes all the pleasure away and so many ppl have told us to stop worrying about it but how do you stop?

my cycles are all messed up as well so i thought if i knew when i was ovulating it would boost our chances.

Oh you know, I was looking at those sticks on ebay when I was contemplating trying to conceive.
Never ended up bothering with them since I'm pretty in tune with my bodily changes and if you do "baby dance" a lot you're sure to have success ;-)
That's what we did and I got preggo within a couple of weeks.

oh wow, i didn't realize you guys had been trying for thar long. you should both definitely tell your drs. about it to rule out if there are any issues.

the doc actually suggested that i come in once a week to check ovulation but i thought the sticks if they can do the same thing would probably be a better bet, that way i can do it daily instead of weekly

it didn't work? meaning it wasn't accurate or it didn't tell her when she was ovulating?
