update
Well, it;s been a while since I updated my LJ, and I got a nudge from Sandra to do so! So I figured while I have a free moment I should update, even though I don't really have a whole lot to say.
My house is pretty calm and quiet right now. Robbie is at Vacation Bible school (VBS), so it's just Austin and I home right now. We aren't really a church going family. Eric and I both believe in God (I'm baptist-non practicing), but we are just a busy family. And considering Eric is on call every third week, getting to church every Sunday is tough. Especially when you consider that I don't drive. But, Eric's bosses (a husband and wife)are very active in their church, and asked if we thought Robbie would enjoy going. We said absolutely! It has been going on since Monday, and today is the last day. So it wasn't something we would have to commit a lot of time to. It lasts from 10-noon, so we def were able to make arrangements for him to go. And he has been having a blast. I am glad that he has had the opportunity. He gets to be around kids his own age and be away from mom and dad for a couple hours. I am sad that it is ending so soon!
Austin has been unhappy about VBS though, because Robbie leaves him for half the day. It doesn't start until 10, but Eric's boss drives RObbie there and home, so Eric takes him to work with him at 8"15 every morning. SO Austin feels pretty hurt when his brother leaves in the morning with Eric. I have been doing my best to distract him. We do a lot of housework together (which he loves-he's a strange kid) and have been watching a lot of mickey mouse clubhouse. haha
What else? Well we have been having a good summer so far. We've had a visit to the zoo, which the kids enjoyed tremendously. I did too, as a matter of fact. I had never been to any zoo, so it was a first for me. We bought a year long membership, so we are looking forward to going again soon. We've also had a trip to the beach, lots of outdoor playtime, swimming in our little kiddie pool, hanging out at Deda's house and going down by the lake. We've also had a couple birthday parties. Our weekends have been very full, and I have been trying to keep the kids busy during the week too, because otherwise they fight like cats and dogs.
This weekend is going to be another busy one. We originally had planned to take the kids to a local hotel so they can go swimming, but I forgot that we have yet another birthday party to go to. It's too hard for us to schedule the hotel around the birthday party, given that the party s right smack in the middle of the weekend, so We are postponing the hotel trip for another weekend. Other than thte birthday party, I think we are going to try to take the kids to play mini golf-which should be a lot of fun! And we'll probably have a barbecue Sunday evening, as long as the rain hold out! We also were planning on going clothes shopping because I thought my boys were low on summer clothes. But, I did laundry yesterday and found several pairs of shorts I did not know they had. Yes, I am that disorganized. So now we don't need to do the summer shopping after all. I am a little disappointed. I LOVE clothes shopping! Maybe we will still go so I can get a few things. I only have two pair of shorts!
Hmm, what else. Oh! Robbie got a haircut last night! He has been begging for a mohawk for about a year, but with school we couldn't allow it. Now that he's out for the summer, we decided he could have one. SO ERic cut his hair last night! He ended up with just a tophawk (The back and sides shaved). He LOVES it. I don't particularly like it, but I figure it's just hair. It'll grow back!
