Had a VERY pleasant time chillin' with old friends for St Patty's day. The corned beef and cabbage were excellent, even though I arrived a bit late thanks to atrocious traffic. Tasty dinner, yummy dessert, a bit of sampling of irish whiskey, and sitting down together to view "DALEK". Dot's kids are growing up so fast...it was my first time meeting little Teagan and she's a charmer, and Sean is still quite an inquisitive little handful, but they're good kids overall.
Then I went home and....my curiosity got the better of me, so I watched the repeat of SciFi's showing of Doctor Who. Yay! No egregious edits!
Saturday was family day -- off to Towson for my cousin's little girl's first birthday party. Ava's a cute kid, but I had to laugh when her mom -- my cousin Rosie -- complained about the diapers. I changed Rosie's diapers and reminded her of this fact.
I spent a good portion of the day there, hanging with various seldom-spotted family members. Mostly, though, I got to spend a little quality time with my goddaughter. Zoe's such a bright and well-behaved kid -- she was helping Ava unwrap the presents, and playing with a sticker book she'd been given. She told me about what she was doing, explaining excitedly (and with enough hand gestures to do any Old World mama proud) about how THIS page was all about the ducks, and there were four of them, but that this OTHER page was about the rabbits, and that you could only have ONE store per page, because "otherwise it would be too confusing". I asked her what she planned to do with all the other stickers and she pondered that for a moment before answering "Oh, I'm sure I'll figure something out."
After that, it was off to Granny's for some "running", which means "going shopping". No luck on finding jeans, but I randomly found the boots I"ve been looking for for three years, in my size, on sale for $25. Then back to her place where she and Grampa John proceeded to obliterate me at cards, and from there, off to my folks' place to visit (briefly) and pick up the bottle of port my mom brought back from New Zealand and the jumbo-sized suitcase I'm borrowing.
I got home in time to see the finale for Fullmetal Alchemist. Whoa. Damn. What a show. Fantastic.
Sunday was lunch with Monica, a quick visit to the mall, and then a few more errands before
koupwassu and Mike came over to discuss the Tokyo trip. We went over basic plans and printed out required documents, then grabbed a bite and a beer. Mike ended up staying a bit later, listening to a few of my stupid stories and watching Boondocks.
I still need to get to the bank to withdraw cash. May try to do that after training today.
SOOOO much to get done by tomorrow night!
