Tonight is the launch of DOCTOR WHO (2005 series) on the Sci Fi channel.
You *must* see this. Most of my readers know that this is pretty much my favorite show ever. It's a HUGE hit in the UK and is credited with reinvigorating the concept of family television -- whole families (3 and 4 generations in some cases) gather and watch together.
It's solid stuff -- great fun, with a bit of depth that gradually sneaks in. It's not just for kids -- it's for families, where the kid can enjoy being scared because Mum and Dad are nearby.
Forget what you remember about the old series being mostly wobbly sets and crap effects. This is good stuff with an actual budget, and the stories *matter*.
I really want this to be successful in the US. I'll be watching with some of my oldest, dearest friends, and I think my family's going to be watching as well.
