Golden Compass
So I saw The Golden Compass tonight, and was pleasantly surprised to find that, though it was not as gripping as I'd hoped it would be (being a HUGE fan of the books, and, ya know, KNOWING what was going to happen), I was genuinely enjoying it.
I really was enjoying it. The casting was spot-on, the acting was amazing, the graphics were beautiful, it was ALMOST faithful to the novel, AND it didn't feel as if they'd cut religion out of it entirely (like the review in the Atlantic Monthly claimed).
BUT WHERE THE FUCK DID THE ENDING GO?! ISN'T SHE SUPPOSED TO GET ROGER KILLED AND WALK ACROSS THE BRIDGE IN THE SKY INTO CITTAGAZZE? I'M PRETTY SURE THAT'S HOW THE FIRST NOVEL ENDED! DID I JUST HALLUCINATE THAT? SRSLY WTF NEW LINE?!
I should add, however, that I am now madly in love with Sam Elliot. He's exactly how I pictured Lee. He was perfect. I love Lee...
