I'm officially all moved into the motherfucker - great name for a house, right? We had a little situation with the state of our yard/entire house and had to deal with an inspector coming on Monday. She was slightly disgusted with the carpets, and asked if the stencils of Stephen's face were James Brown. Eric's mom came on Wednesday, and was a one-woman house-cleaning machine. The place is now beautiful, has professionally cleaned carpets, and I just took a bubble bath with candlelight - not exactly the same party house of the past few years. I made friends with the neighbor and he's mowing our yard. Stephen and I drink sleepytime at night before bed, and discuss politics - everything is so peaceful.
So far working at Wildfire is going really well. They make you train five shifts before you can take a table alone, which I am finding to be slightly unnecessary considering my years of experience of waiting from CW's. It's basically the same routine as working at CW's, just such a classier place. Tonight I worked a wedding reception, and earlier in the week I trained with Jesse and he allowed me to take two tables alone (granted one was Chris and Missy).
I babysat a baby and a toddler on Monday morning - a 5 month old and a two year old, and it was surprisingly a breeze. The kids were adorable, we played with blocks, watched some Sesame Street, I changed diapers, fed the baby, and carried her around when she began to cry. The kids took naps, and the family had a super-friendly cat, and at one point, I had both kids as well as the cat laying on my lap. So cute. I've never taken care of a baby before, and thankfully, the mom was happy with my work when she returned. I think I'm going to continue to watch the kids during the summer when I'm free from Wildfire - the family has 5 kids total, so that should be interesting when I have to watch all of them at the same time.
I'm working all weekend, and tonight I think I'm going to sit around the house, listening to music, read - I need reading suggestions for the summer because I've already finished the three books I brought, and I think Dylan might visit for a little while.
Eva got a tiny kitten, and I'm the "godmama". He's a little orange kitten named Kimba, and he likes to sleep in Vicky Chang's hair. This past week has been filled with people at the house - David and Nata stay over almost every night, a group of Delta force and Casey came over last night (including Baida and Alice May, both of whom were so good to see), and Nick always has different people around. The house is basically always open, and it's nice to have people around, but I'm thinking that will change soon when all the boys move out. Eric and I hung out on Wednesday night, and I really enjoyed it - his mom took us all to lunch at a chinese place on Thursday morning.
I'm glad to be spending more time with all the guys and not just Walker, and I'm really, really enjoying living in such a clean house.
Lindsey is back in the country and will be in Georgetown soon!
So far summer is good, as is the new Wilco album.
