I'm playing domestic by house/dogsitting for a professor tonight. Her house is adorable, and it makes me excited to be an adult, which for the most part, especially with the realization that college is half way over as of Tuesday, is not something that I am looking forward to continuing to become. I'm watching two dogs, both of whom are larger than I am, but they are very well behaved and are currently sleeping at my feet. Plus, the professor has an amazing music collection, and I'm planning on finishing God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater tonight.
Finals are over - and I did well on them for the most part. I made an A+ for the Mass Comm movie, and I think I did well on my US Foreign Policy exam. This week was incredibly busy - for a brief breakdown - Tuesday: I finally finished my Law and Literature (not exactly sure what I made on it, but I enjoyed the topic of 19th century marriage law and the commonality of slavery/feminism more than I thought I would have, and I found some amazing sources about life during the antebellum period in the South). Tuesday night was spent hanging around KMB with Walker, and making everyone jealous that we were done when they all had to still be studying for their finals. Wednesday afternoon was so beautiful - Walker and I went to the park in Austin to read (I got about 100 pages into God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater and he read Dr. Winnubst's book), and then I went to my appointment while he went to Spiderhouse. We sat in the grass and watched private elementary school children in their uniforms learn how to play cricket. We walked to Zen and saw Travis at work, and got free sushi before deciding to come home. On Wednesday night, it was KMB again - Vickie brought her Story of Southwestern book and Eva, Vicky, Blake, and I made a college out of pictures of weed and naked men, which included a picture of Southwestern male students marching off to World War II. It was quite amazing - or at least we thought so in our half-way drunken state, and later in the evening, Walker and Vicky had a paint fight, and we saw the Pikes go to the police station because someone cut a hole in their Senior Week pool. One random Pike came and sat on the porch with us, proclaim that he was indeed not a tool, and not to judge him by his 'brothers'.
Thursday morning, I was feeling lazy, but in the afternoon Walker and I went to see the new apartment. Money gives me such extreme anxiety and I wondered about if we would possibly be able to find anywhere cheaper to live. We drove around the neighbors surrounding Southwestern, and stopped to briefly consider renting Dylan's place (it was very brief idea - once I saw the shower, I was certain that my home-making skills are not that talented to put forth the effort it would take to even begin to clean his apartment to make it livable). We drove around, called on a few houses that were for rent, and decided in the end to have pie and pudding at Monument and that Victorian Villages was the best option. That evening, we waited for Eric to get out of his last final, and we went to a bar-b-que at Casey and Emily's house. After the party, we went to KMB for the dance party, but were soon distracted by a large cloud of smoke in the sky. A house burned down on 7th street, and we sat outside and watched the orange sky on the porch. Thursday night was strange; I can't really explain my rationale for my feelings or actions, but I felt absolutely awful. Walker, Eva, Erin, Dylan, Nata, and David all came to my room and cheered me up. I felt awful even more so because I couldn't explain myself, but Walker wiped my snot all over my face, and made the kitten jump all over me, and it's hard not to laugh after experiencing both of those events. I went back to KMB went them, but soon left again in favor of my last night of sleep in Moody-Shearn.
I felt better in the morning, and I had made a deal with Walker the day before that I would attempt to both move out and get a job in the same day. If I was able to complete these tasks, he would take me out to dinner for celebration. Well, several hours, several car loads containing my life, and one interview later -- I moved into the motherfucker, and I work at Wildfire. Eric helped me move, which was such a departure from doing everyone alone last year. My stuff is currently in boxes all over the house, but I'm comfortable living there. After the big move, Eric, Walker, Colin, Sarah, and I went to Chili's for dinner - at which I bought Eric dinner for helping and Walker bought me dinner in honor of my no longer being such a scrub. We then went back to the house, and began making margaritas.
The idea for Eric to get a mullet has been floating around for a while now, but Friday night the plan was put into action. We sat him in a chair in the kitchen, and began his transformation. Walker cut the bangs, and after realizing that we had no clue how to cut hair, David soon took over and did a fabulous job. We decided that Eric looked british, and also decided he needed a trashy outfit to go with his new hair. He put on short jean shorts, a torn Marines shirt of Nick's, and sunglasses - it was one of the best things I've ever seen. Blake was next, and all soon realized that Blake was made for a mullet. His looked more natural than Eric's, and he soon made a similar outfit. We all decided to get dressed up in character to go out and party - Walker and I wore jean shorts and looked trashy (and he shaved a mustache), and Sarah wore her Catholic school girl uniform (in hopes to make Colin sing for her as promised, but he never happened). We went to the Sig house - but not before yelling at the KAs congratulating them for getting off probation - and once we arrived, the yard was absolutely full of people. At first the party was fun, but as soon as we went inside, Walker noticed a girl passed out on the couch. We ended up taking care of this girl for the majority of the night, she threw up on me, and it was awful to watch. After taking care of a drunk girl, I was in no mood to drink, so Eric and I went home and watched bad tv. All and all, it was disappointing, especially compared to last year's mall party.
On Saturday, Eric and I went to watch graduation. Then, we went to dinner, and then we got ready for the graduation party. Nick and David's families came over, and so did Walker's mom - meeting the families was SO awesome, and it was so much fun seeing where everyone came from. The party got pretty big - highlights included hanging out with John and Bryan (Walker and Eric's friends from Houston) and talking to all the random people that Mike Jeffcoat brought over. It was such a great party, and it was fun waking up this morning, being hungover, stepping over people in the living room, and talking about all the events of the night before.
Walker's mom took us to brunch at Romero's this morning, and we drove around Gtown with her for little while. She's adorable, and so much fun to talk to. Then I took a short nap, and then came over to dog/house sit. I went to dinner at the motherfucker, watched a movie, and now the dogs and I are getting ready for bed.
I'm nervous about work tomorrow, and this week is going to be SO busy - I have to go to the capitol, babysit, and work at Wildfire - at least I might have some money for once.
Summer thus far is drastically different from the anxious feelings related to due dates, obligations, and dorm life. My house is great - I feel like I'm living in a cooperative. It's very comfortable, and I feel very at home despite living completely out of boxes. I want vistors! People need to come stay with me!
I cannot believe that I am half way done with college.
