"Supernatural" (5x08 "Changing Channels") was good last night - but again not quite as good as I was expecting (I think I'm always gonna have high expectations for Trickster episodes).
The scenes of Sam and Dean is other TV shows was totally random but some did work - especially the Dr Sexy MD one (that was parodying "Grey's Anatomy", right? They had a storyline about the ghost, didn't they? Hang on, wasn't that Jeffrey Dean Morgan?), the CSI: Miami parody and the "Knightrider" one. The Japanese game show was less effective though. I also really liked how much Dean clearly liked watching "Dr Sexy MD"
I loved the beginning credits with Sam and Dean just larking around while hunting demons and the sitcom setting was fun. I especially liked Dean's "how is that funny?" and "son of a bitch!" overplayed like they would be in a sitcom like that.
It was good to see the Trickster again - he featured in my favourite SPN episode (so far) which is, of course, "Mystery Spot" - but did they imply that he's always been Gabriel or is this a recent change? I'm sure he said something about how he'd been in that form for a while now. Was the Trickster an angel in disguise when we first met him? I didn't think they were very clear on that or maybe I wasn't paying enough attention.
Some cool Castiel stuff too - "Mr Trickster does not like pretty boy angels". Lol!
So, a cute, fun episode which touched on the ongoing storyline quite well but it didn't quite meet the expectations I had. Next weeks looks fun too.
Before watching SPN I watched the lastest two episodes of "FlashForward" which were actually quite good - the second one especially seemed to answer a lot of questions which I really wasn't expecting this early. Incidentally, I totally ship Bryce and Nicole now. I was leaning towards shipping them anyway and I've officially hopped on board now.
